Craft Beer drinkers react to Big Beer Buyouts by only drinking their beer sometimes from now on.
Outraged loyal craft brand drinkers stick it to “Big Beer” again.
Watch out DB and Lion, the beer geeks are fighting back. In an unusual but overdue move, craft beer drinkers around the country are venting their disappointment with their favourite brands selling out. Beer geeks are thinking about whom to spend their hard earned money with. “I use to drink this brand of beer all the time but now I will only have it if it’s the best option on tap.” One angry drinker told TMTB this week referring to Ballast Point Sculpin who was purchased last year for an unfair amount of money. “Who do they think they are doing this to my brand”, the unnamed drinker said. “It annoys me that it’s too delicious to give up”
Another disappointed drinker complained that now they will have to endure the embarrassment of drinking Lagunitas IPA while knowing it’s owned by Heineken. “I use to really enjoy drinking this beer all the time when I travelled to the states, now I will have to drink it only when I’m desperate for something really good”
With Heineken’s reach into New Zealand giving Lagunitas and other ex-craft breweries access to taps in many pubs around the country, craft beer drinkers will be forced to drink these beers in pubs that have traditionally poured absolute rubbish. “Seeing a really good pale ale in a remote pub somewhere in New Zealand outrages me, I hate having to make a choice between Tui and Tuatara APA or whatever that’s called now” he said, “Why can’t they just leave my brand alone, I'm so confused.”
Typically big breweries are not listening either with more and more taps across the country pouring better beer for the masses. It seems the struggle will never end for craft beer drinkers.
